Hello, my name is Sam Baker and I live in Splendora. In the past, I have worked with the Killeen (TX) Food Care Center, through which I was awarded the 1991 Mayor’s End Hunger Award and more recently, in 2006, worked with the Red Bluff (CA) First Southern Baptist Church in their efforst for the Tehama County Food Bank. In an earlier life, I was associated with the late, great Harry Chapin and his efforts through the UN to end hunger.
The Splendora Missionary Baptist News, summer edition, arrived at my home a week or so ago. Not being of your faith (I am a heathen Episcopalian), I almost fileld it away in the circular file, but decided to keep it around instead. I think that decision was a message from above. I have needed to get involved in some sort of local volunteer effort. Therefore, if you will have me as a volunteer, I shall happily serve.
